About Us
Grand Junction FIrefighters Local 2808 was established in 1980 in Grand Junction, Colorado, as the professional firefighters’ union representing career fire fighters serving the community. Local 2808 is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) — the premier labor union for professional fire fighters and emergency services personnel in the United States and Canada, founded in 1918 to advocate for better wages, safer working conditions, and improved benefits for fire service professionals.
From its beginnings, Local 2808 has pursued collective representation and a unified voice for its members in negotiations with the City of Grand Junction, championing issues such as pay equity, workplace safety standards, health and pension benefits, and fair working conditions. Over the decades, the Local has grown alongside the city’s fire services — adapting to changes in emergency response demands, expanding training opportunities, and strengthening collective bargaining outcomes.
Throughout its history, Local 2808 has also played an active role in the broader fire service community, participating in public education and community safety initiatives, fostering strong relationships with local government leadership, and contributing to regional and state-level fire service advocacy.
Today, Local 2808 remains dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of fire fighters and emergency responders in Grand Junction, building on a long legacy of solidarity and professional excellence.
